Whisky Wayfarers Single Barrel Selection
Eagle Rare Single Barrel – Cherry Jelly Jam
Ninety bottles. Not one more.
Our latest Eagle Rare single barrel, selected for Whisky Wayfarers just a couple of months after the Chapter Three pick. Barreled 26 February 2015 and bottled at just over eleven years old.
Why we named it
Because that is exactly where it goes. Big, ripe cherry, rich sweetness and a surprisingly viscous mouthfeel for a bourbon bottled at 45%. Eagle Rare always has cherry somewhere in it. This barrel put it front and centre and left everything else to play underneath.
Ninety bottles
After eleven years in Kentucky the barrel had concentrated so far that at full proof it would have yielded only around 67 bottles. Proofed to 45%, it gave just 90. That is fewer than most single-barrel releases, and it is also the first time Eagle Rare Single Barrel has come to Australia in the new 700ml format.
